Read MoreThe last week (or so) I've been working on a super easy project - fixing up my entry way closet. It may not seem like a big project - and it wasn't - but it was time consuming. So why fix up your entry closet you ask? Because I'm tired of the daily "Where are your shoes? Where is your backpack?" as we are heading out the door for school. And, to be honest with you, it kind of became a place to put stuff. There was no thought behind what went in there. It was basically a catch-all for anything I couldn't find a place for. I had heard once that if your entry is cluttered, your home is cluttered. Who knows the logic behind it, but I decided to see if organizing it would make other things move smoothly (it was worth a try, right?)
Read MoreHi everyone! I wanted to list this as another dining room update, but I know most people are wanting to know about the window grids, grilles, mullions - whatever you call them. This project is the result of a little OCD and a lot of "there still is something missing in the dining room." Luckily, the latter and the former came into perfect harmony yesterday when I had my ah ha moment. I realized that I wanted to do grids on the window. Every window on the front of the house (even the little windows) have grids. In contrast, every window on the back and side did not. At first I thought they went this route because they wanted to enjoy the view. I mean, the view is why we bought the house.
Read MoreWhat's up everyone?!? You know me... the harder I'm working, the less I blog. Hey, it takes time to sit here and put all of this together - time I could spend with the kiddos or (gasp) cleaning the house! :-) So, first things first - lets talk dining room. Although the dining room isn't 100% complete, it is close enough that I thought I'd show you the other projects.
One of the things I wanted to do was frame out the windows so I could enjoy the beautiful views. I wanted really chunky moulding, so I had to do something about the stool with it's little bitty hang over. I opted to take it out and cut the lip off.

A patio can serve as a focal point for a backyard and act as an outdoor gathering place. While surrounding buildings and trees can provide visual interest, a patio often gets overlooked in the decorating department since most people see it as a functional place to grill out or relax outdoors. Whether it's a large area with table and chairs or a small area with standing room only, here are five ways to spruce up a patio and bring color into the area.
Read MoreWell hello everyone! I've been a busy little bee lately. I've been wrapping up projects and then, of course, moving on to new ones. I finally finished up the dining room (I will have pics up in a couple of days) but then I moved on to the master bathroom. Yes, the master bath. I know you are probably asking "didn't you just reveal the master bath a few months ago?" I did, but I hadn't quite finished it up. I still wanted to add crown and needed to touch up a few pieces of door trim. I knocked it out in a weekend and am just finishing up a few things here and there. In the midst of all of this I was contacted by Hometalk and asked to curate a board of foyer remodels because they loved my foyer project. Color me flattered! So of course I got to work picking out my favorite remodels from their crazy big database. And guess what happened? After looking at all of the beautiful foyers, I realized I need to update mine a bit. Yep, I will be freshening up the foyer in the next couple of weeks. Luckily I've got some amazing inspiration to help me along.
Read MoreI love to paint. I mean, it's cheap, it's easy and it makes a huge impact. What I don't like are 1. Tacky brushes 2. Dried out brushes. If you've ever had to paint a project where there was a good amount of time between coats, you know what I'm talking about. Luckily, thanks to a DIY Channel tip, neither of these are a problem any longer! Step 1: Lay the brush in the middle of a plastic bag.
Read MoreOver the last few months, I've been working on two projects - the kitchen and the dining room. I've learned that if I divide projects into small groups, I tend to knock them out quicker. Since I was wrapping up the kitchen, it was only natural to start work on the dining room (and yes, I will have kitchen pics soon).
Read MoreHappy Saturday everyone! I've been a busy little bee around the house - finishing years old projects and clean, clean, cleaning. One of the things that I finally finished was one of my biggest DIY mistakes. Ok, it wasn't huge, but it was a good one. Here is a pic of my door trim (the second project I did when I moved in):
Read MoreOver the years I've done lots and lots of projects and spent lots and lots of money. But every now and then I'm able to make a change that costs next to nothing. This is one of those projects. I decided to tackle this one after being bored one night, so I didn't think to take before pics. So what project did I manage to do for free? Here's a hint:
Read MoreWell hello everyone! I bet you all thought I'd quit the blogging game. Not so! I've been busy launching the business and working on a TON of projects. One of those is finishing my cabinets - you know the cabinets that were oak, then black, then black and white and now.... white. Yep, went the traditional route. After my travels overseas and seeing really, really old kitchens I've noticed one thing - white never goes out of style. I'm trying to keep it classic but with fun accessories. But more on that later. While painting kitchen cabinets, you will find yourself sanding - a lot.
